OFFICIAL RULES

  1. Sponsor

    This contest is separate and completely independent from any other contests held by The Reader’s Digest Association (Canada) ULC (RD). It is presented in conjunction with various product offers sponsored by RD, and occasionally its affiliates and partners.

  2. Eligibility

    This contest is open to Canadian residents who, at the time of entry, have reached the age of majority according to the law of the province or territory in which they reside, AND who have ordered a product AND/OR upon payment of a product AND who have completed and returned their Contest Entry Form containing a skill testing game and/or question. In order to be eligible to be entered into this contest, participants must respect all conditions set forth in the relevant promotional material. The following are excluded from entering: employees of RD, their immediate family, or persons working for any company involved in any phase of contest administration and persons with whom they are domiciled. Contest is void where prohibited.

  3. How to Enter

    Mode of entry into the contest may vary during the campaign. Contestants must complete the contest entry form and the skill testing question.

  4. Prize and Important Dates

    Visual presentation, treatment, and payment options of this prize may vary in the promotional material sent by RD. This prize may be offered as the following options: cash (as a lump-sum amount, a weekly amount, a monthly amount or an annuity for a period determined by RD) and/or car, gas allowance, trip, jewelry, home improvements, electronics or shopping sprees. Despite the different options presented, there will be only one winner for this prize. The prize and bonus (when offered) will be awarded to the winner in accordance with the specific promotional offer associated with the winning entrie. When a merchandise prize is offered, RD reserves the right to substitute similar merchandise of equal or greater value in the event that a particular merchandise prize is no longer available, with the approval of the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux. The winner always has the option of choosing cash over the merchandise prizes.

    1. All completed entries must be received by August 23, 2021 at 23:59:59 (EDT).

    2. An individual may enter as many times as given the opportunity and each entry will be judged.

    3. One (1) $20,000.00 prize or the cash equivalent will be awarded to one (1) winner. This prize may be supplemented by a bonus ranging from $1.00 to $20,000.00 (when offered). This prize when offered as a value greater than the base amount of $20,000.00, will be referred to as the Upgraded Thank You Prize. To win a bonus, conditions as specified in the relevant promotional material must be met.

    4. The winner will be informed in writing following the Winner Selection Date of September 30, 2021.

      The winner must allow his/her name and photo (if required) to be used for promotion purposes. Upon receipt of the winner’s duly completed claim form, the winner, if required, may be contacted in order to arrange for prize delivery. If unclaimed, the next eligible contestant will be chosen as the winner.

  5. Judging

    Each entry will be judged by an independent judge, in Montreal, whose decision will be final. The winner will be determined on the basis of the accuracy of the contestant’s answer to the first skill activity and in case of a tie, on the literary merit, originality and creativity of his/her answer to the question on entry.
    The winner’s name will be available online at rd.ca or upon request to anyone who sends a stamped, self-addressed envelope to “RD Thank You Prize Contest” c/o Reader’s Digest, Prize Award Administrator’s Office, 5101 Buchan Street, Montreal, QC H4P1S4.

  6. Governing Conditions

    1. This contest complies with all federal and provincial Canadian laws. In Québec, the required duties have been paid and any litigation respecting the conduct of, or organization of, a publicity contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Régie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.
